Mr. Miner’s Phish Thoughts Presents Its Book Website
and Contest to Win Free Signed Copy
PHILADELPHIA – (July 14, 2011) Mr. Miner’s Phish Thoughts announces the launch of a new book website, www.phishthoughtsbook.com, offering detailed information about Mr. Miner’s Phish Thoughts – An Anthology By A Fan For The Fans, a new compilation of essays on legendary jam band Phish. The website presents a glorifying look into Phish’s 2009 reemergence into the live music scene and its continued intrigue today, detailing the conception and composition of the commemorative anthology. Fans can enter to win a signed copy of the book through a contest based on song prediction for an upcoming show.
The anthology – scheduled for release by the holiday season 2011 – takes off from the experimental culture and devoted fan base at the root of the blog “Mr. Miner’s Phish Thoughts,†created in 2008 at the beginning of Phish’s “rebirth.†While the blog, http://phishthoughts.com, offers the opportunity for fans to analyze, discuss, and reflect upon the band’s development and performance, the anthology provides the opportunity for the reader to relive Phish’s comeback through an individualized reading experience. The book experience becomes improvisational with the “choose your own adventure†format. The reader may read the book chronologically, or may rediscover the band through a series of “connections†– subjects include Culture, Songs/Jams, Tours/Eras, and Shows – selecting and expanding upon a specific aspect of Phish’s musical development, and leading oneself to a series of related content.
The new book, written and compiled by a prolific Phish fan, provides insight into the band’s musical highs and lows and passionate cultural following while also considering each show within the context of its broader musical career, remaining loyal to fans’ commitment to the music and optimism about the band’s future. The website provides viewers a biography of the book’s author David Calarco, details about the book’s format, and the chance at a sneak peak inside its vibrant pages.
In addition, the website extends the opportunity for Phish fans to continue illustrating their investment in live performances and their support for Mr. Miner’s blog through participation in the Miner’s Phish Thoughts Contest. The contest challenges fans to guess the song lineups for one of Phish’s upcoming 2011 live performances and the winner will receive a signed copy of the anthology. The contest closes August 4, 2011 and winners will be announced September 6, 2011. Fans may also reserve their own copy of the book online.
