On Wednesday, February 9th, Tribal Theory played at Winston’s in Ocean Beach. Tribal Theory is a local, island reggae/rock band with Polynesian roots that definitely had an island sound. I enjoyed the ukulele used throughout the performance and the versatile vocals that involved most of the band members, including the drummer who sang an entire song. The multiple singers added a lot of personality to the band because each member vocalizes differently, but stays in tune with the reggae/rock sound.
The band covered three Bob Marley songs during their first set, and then played vibrant, original songs in their second set of the night. The vocalists really added to the show performance, stirring up a great reaction from the crowd, especially during the second set.
