Calaveras County Sheriff Busts Illegal Grow Worth Millions In Sheep Ranch

Raid on Hubbard Road

The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office raided a property in the 1700 block of Hubbard Road in the Sheep Ranch area on Thursday, September 17, 2026. The operation targeted an illegal marijuana cultivation site and was led by the Calaveras Narcotics Enforcement Unit (CNEU).

Deputies seized approximately 8,100 mature marijuana plants during the raid. Sheriff’s officials said the bust could have raked in millions for the growers.

No suspects were arrested at the property. Detectives are actively working on several leads as the investigation continues.

Estimated Value of the Seized Plants

Sheriff’s officials estimated a potential yield of 1 to 3 pounds per plant. Based on that figure, the plants could have produced an estimated 8,100 to 24,300 pounds of product.

The Sheriff’s Office said, “At an average estimated street value of $400 per pound, the illegal operation could have produced between approximately $3,240,000 and $9,720,000 in potential street value.”

The seizure removed a large volume of unlicensed cannabis from the local market. The scale of the operation placed it among the larger illegal grows targeted by the county.

Investigation Continues

The investigation remains ongoing, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Detectives are pursuing several active leads in the case.

Anyone with information regarding illegal marijuana activities is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office anonymous tip line at (209) 754-6870. Officials have not released additional details about potential suspects.

The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office has continued to pursue illegal cultivation sites in the region. This week’s raid in Sheep Ranch marks the latest enforcement action by the department’s narcotics unit.
