Fifteen Suspects Indicted For Smash And Grab Burglaries Targeting Portland Cannabis Shops

Fifteen Indicted in Portland Cannabis Burglary Ring

Officials have indicted 15 suspects accused of participating in a Portland, Oregon, burglary ring that allegedly targeted 17 cannabis businesses between February and November 2025, KPTV reports. The indictment follows an investigation into a series of break-ins across the Portland metro area.

Prosecutors say the alleged burglars would crash stolen vehicles into the businesses to gain access to the sites. The targeted locations included both cannabis retailers and warehouses.

The affected businesses have not been publicly identified. The Portland Police Bureau says the investigation is ongoing, according to the report.

District Attorney Nathan Vasquez addressed the case in a press conference this week. He described the scale of the alleged operation.

“This was a highly organized group,” Vasquez said in a press conference this week, via KPTV. He pledged that those responsible would face prosecution.

Two Suspects Identified by Prosecutors

Prosecutors identified only two of the 15 suspects this week. The remaining suspects were not named in the announcement.

Anthony Lunetta was identified as the presumed ringleader of the operation. Prosecutors allege he organized the burglary ring’s activities.

Michael Kessler was the second suspect named. Prosecutors say he allegedly supplied the stolen cars used in the break-ins.

The use of stolen vehicles to crash into businesses was a defining feature of the alleged scheme. Prosecutors say this method was used to breach the targeted cannabis sites.

The 17 affected businesses were all located in the Portland metro area.

DA Vows Prosecution as Investigation Continues

District Attorney Vasquez framed the indictments as a defense of the local community and its businesses. He issued a direct warning to those who commit such crimes.

“When you attack our community, you’re going to be brought to justice,” Vasquez said in a press conference this week, via KPTV. “When you attack these businesses, we’re going to be prosecuting you and you are going to prison.”

The Portland Police Bureau has not closed the case. Its investigation remains ongoing, according to KPTV.

Prosecutors did not say whether additional charges or suspects could follow.

The case highlights the vulnerability of cannabis businesses in the Portland area. The businesses targeted in the alleged scheme included both retail storefronts and warehouse operations.
