The Hawaii Department of Health, Office of Medical Cannabis Control and Regulation (OMCCR), will launch a new patient registry portal on September 30th, 2026. The announcement was posted by the department ahead of the transition to the upgraded system.
The new portal will replace the current patient registry website at medmj.ehawaii.gov.
Patient guides have been posted to the bottom of the department’s Patient Forms & Resources page. Medical Provider guides have been posted to the bottom of the Medical Provider Forms & Resources page. The department urged patients and providers to review the important details and upcoming changes.
The department did not announce additional features of the new portal beyond the transition timeline and posted guides.
The system upgrade will require a temporary outage of the current patient registry website from September 23rd through September 29th. Beginning September 23rd, the only available functionality will be patient access to their existing 329 card.
No applications, renewals, or updates can be started or submitted during this period. OMCCR staff will continue processing applications submitted through September 22nd.
Any pending applications returned for corrections that are not resubmitted and approved before the transition period will be deleted. Those applications will need to be recreated in the new system once it goes live on September 30th.
Once the outage ends, the new portal becomes the sole system for registry activity in the state.
To minimize delays or complications, the department strongly recommended submitting any applications to OMCCR by September 16th. That date gives staff time to process applications before the outage begins.
Applications submitted after September 16th but by September 22nd will still be processed by OMCCR staff. Anything not completed before the transition period risks deletion if it was returned for corrections.
Patients and medical providers can consult the posted guides on the department’s resource pages for instructions on using the new system.
The department also maintains a Non-Discrimination Coordinator reachable at (808) 586-4400 for language or accessibility requests related to its programs.
