Are you bad at rolling joints? For the most part, the majority of casual smokers fall into the same category, so don’t worry. Laissez les bons temps rouler— ‘Let’s have fun’ in French — that’s today’s informal mantra.
Mardi Gras, French for “Fat Tuesday,” falls on February 21st this year and always takes place on a Tuesday. We might not be heading south to New Orleans or Lafayette, Louisiana, but there could be holiday sales at nearby pharmacies and cannabis-themed Mardi Gras parties.
You don’t have to possess sleight of hand (rotating and tucking movements of the fingers that roll or dull the joint) to avoid rolling the joint. In fact, many of us don’t have that skill, and some have been smoking for years.
Before graduating to more advanced joints involving woven licorice paper and truncated tips, here are a few hacks to get around the hardest part of rolling joints.
high times I’ve put together not one but two beginner hacks for those with rolling disabilities. And if you’re celebrating Mardi Gras, chances are you’ll be handicapped in some way today.
Before you let your hair down and get your Mardi Gras beads, here are some hacks for those who are disabled and can’t spin.
credit card swipe hack
The only tool required for this hack is a debit or credit card. Expired ones are fine in this case.I first learned this trick by watching a TV show host Dom Brown and Wake and Bake @HiptrTV.Dom Brown called this trick a The joint rolling hack that will change your lifeHe learned the trick while on tour in California with DJ Jelo and claims the hack changed his life forever. The main point of this hack is to avoid the roll-and-tuck step that spoils some newbies.
you will need:
credit card or debit card
Rolling paper
chips
Tsubomi
- grind the buds
Use a 4-piece grinder or mill to grind the herb to a crumbly consistency, but not a powder of sawdust. You also need to make sure you don’t burn out.
- make a paper canoe
Grab a piece of paper of your choice, take one out, and form a canoe shape. First, make sure the gum side is facing up, or it needs to be in the right place to properly seal the joint.
- grab a hint
Get what is called a crutch, a filter, a tip, or a jointed end that goes into your mouth. You can use cardstock to make a spiral or accordion shape, or something more creative. Place it on the canoe. It must be wrapped tightly to secure it.
- fill the canoe
Fill the paper with ground buds. If you pack it too tightly, you won’t be able to inhale the smoke. Try making a cylinder.
- slide credit card
Then use a credit or debit card to tuck the outside of the paper closest and slide it along the length of the joint to tuck the paper in. As you can see at Dom Brown’s video, the paper will probably be folded, but that’s okay. This makes the roll and tuck part, which is the hardest part of joint rotation, much easier.
- lick seal
The final step is the same as for any other joint. Lick and seal the ends of the sticks. Or, if you’re conscious of germs, use a paintbrush with water or a sponge.
backward pencil joint hack
You’ve probably heard about rolling joints with a pen or pencil. Basically, the core of this concept is to do the opposite. In other words, make the paper tube before putting the weed inside. Then fill it with ground buds. The downside is that it takes a little time and patience to pack the weeds in a way that burns consistently.
you will need:
pen or pencil
toothpick or skewer

- grab a hint
You’ll get crutches, filters, tips, or what’s called joint ends that go into your mouth.
- make a paper tube
Place the tip on the end of the pencil and hold it together. Wrap the circle paper around a pencil or pen, wet it and seal it. It should fit snugly around the crutch, but not too tight. Otherwise, you will not be able to pull the pencil out. Pull out the pen or pencil, but keep the tip fixed.
- Fill in tube and pack
First, prepare a tray under your work area. This is because it can spill a lot of sprouts from the ground. Then slowly fill the paper tube. A skewer or toothpick should be used to stuff the tube about every half inch. Repeat this process until the entire tube is filled.
