RFK Jr. Wants To Decriminalize Pot, Psychedelics

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has vowed to bring about massive drug reform if he wins the White House in the big-picture presidential election.

Kennedy, who is challenging President Joe Biden for the 2024 Democratic nomination, said in an interview last Thursday that he would change federal marijuana laws.

“I will decriminalize marijuana on a federal basis and allow states to regulate it. I would put a federal tax on it. It will be used to deliver the program,” Kennedy said in an interview with ReasonTV. As Benzinga quoted.

And at a Town Hall event the day before, Kennedy elaborated on his vision for drug reform.

“That’s what we need to build here,” said Kennedy. According to Benzinga. “What I want to do as president is to decriminalize marijuana. , that is, building a healing center in a depressed rural area where children can grow and eat organic food, get well and heal themselves spiritually, physically and emotionally.”

According to the paper, President Kennedy added that “psychedelic drugs will definitely be decriminalized.”

Kennedy, son of the late Senator and Attorney General Bobby Kennedy and nephew of President John F. Kennedy, announced in April that he would run for president in 2024.

He is perhaps best known as a staunch opponent of vaccines.

“For Kennedy, the cause was vaccine skepticism, a movement he shrouded in terms of truth-seeking and free speech, and which in the past had mistakenly linked childhood vaccines to autism. ” new york times report At the time of the presidential inauguration announcement in April. “In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, he likened the government’s efforts to impose obligations on some regions to ‘Hitler’s Germany’ in an attempt to undermine public confidence in vaccines. Both Facebook and Instagram have deleted accounts for groups he runs for spreading medical misinformation. ”

As times report, Kennedy said that “senators accuse ‘RFK Jr.’ of sowing distrust in the science behind vaccines,” and that his wacky presidential campaign “wowed lawmakers from his famous Democratic clan.” ‘He said.

“While I love my brother Bobby, I do not share or support his views on many issues such as the COVID-19 pandemic, vaccinations and the role of social media platforms in combating misinformation.” Sister Kelly Kennedy said at the time. The start of his presidential campaign.

It’s unusual for a sitting president to contest the party’s nomination, but Biden has two opponents in next year’s Democratic primary.

In addition to Kennedy, 2020 party nominee Marianne Williamson has stepped up her challenge to Biden.

Opinion polls show Kennedy holding just under 20 percent of Democratic primary voters, but still trailing Biden by about 40 to 50 percentage points is a respectable result.

At a town hall event on Wednesday, Kennedy refused to commit to endorse Biden in the general election.

“I don’t know what to do,” said President Kennedy. As quoted by The Hill. “Let’s see what happens with this campaign. , I’m not going to bite.”

Kennedy said his goal is to win the nomination and eventually run for the White House.

“My plan is to win this election, but I have no plan B,” he said. According to Hill.
