Connecticut Dispensary Workers Ratify Four-Year Union Contract With Health Boost

Workers Ratify Four-Year Contract

Workers at Still River Wellness, a cannabis dispensary in Torrington, Connecticut, have ratified a four-year union contract. The agreement was negotiated with UFCW Local 371. The contract covers 12 dispensary associates and vault service technicians.

The deal includes wage increases for the covered workers. It also includes a 34% increase in the employer’s contribution to employee health insurance. The ratification marks the completion of bargaining between the workers’ committee and the company.

She credited the bargaining committee and the employer for reaching an agreement.

Contract Details

The contract includes clear guidance on promotional opportunities for workers. It guarantees that schedules are posted the month before they take effect. Employees will also receive an increase in the employee discount percentage.

Sick time will be frontloaded at the beginning of the calendar year under the agreement. Vacation time will increase based on seniority, and part-time employees are included in that provision. The contract also adds paid holidays.

What It Means for Customers

Corrie said customers who shop at Still River Wellness “should know that when they shop here, we are helping us have living-wage jobs,” according to a press release. The statement framed customer loyalty as directly connected to worker wages.

“Our little shop in the corner of Connecticut is dedicated to our customers and patients, and we are thankful they are loyal to us,” Corrie said in the statement.

The contract is now ratified and in effect for its four-year term. The 12 covered workers will receive the wage increases, health insurance contribution boost, and scheduling guarantees outlined in the agreement.
