CSQ Launches Compliance Toolkit for Colorado Operators Following the Certification’s Approval to Audit CO’s Safe Harbor Hemp Products

According to Colorado regulators, a safe harbor hemp product is a hemp-derived compound or cannabinoid, whether finished or in-process, that is permitted to be manufactured, produced, packaged, processed or prepared in Colorado for export but is not permitted for sale or distribution in Colorado.

Cannabis Safety and Quality (CSQ) is an ANAB-accredited certification program for the production of cannabinoid products, and its cGMP certification is the perfect solution for licensed Safe Harbor hemp manufacturers who are required to be audited by an accredited third-party certification body by July 1, 2025.

The first step a Safe Harbor hemp manufacturer must take to achieve CSQ cGMP certification is to schedule an audit through ASI, an all-accredited certification body. CDPHE Listed Approved Programs.

Additionally, CSQ is stepping in to help Colorado marijuana businesses get through the reduced updated inspection permit requirements that went into effect July 1.stThe revised law allows businesses to reduce inspection requirements if they implement a Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) system that complies with ASTM standard D8250-19 and pass an internal audit that evaluates their compliance with the rule’s requirements.

Because the new rules do not clarify how licensed operators will submit evidence of self-assessment or proof of implementation of a HACCP system, CSQ is developing resources to help operators exceed expectations with the Reduced Testing Allowance (RTA) toolkit.

“Companies that truly implement these processes required for reduced testing will ultimately produce a safer, higher quality product. But right now, they’re clueless in terms of where to start and what the state considers acceptable evidence, so we’re giving operators the tools to prove they’ve done everything correctly,” said Darwin Millard, technical director for CSQ.

The RTA toolkit is Rootworksan official training partner of CSQ and creator of the most affordable certified HACCP course on the market today, includes:

  • HACCP preparation;
  • Lead auditor training;
  • The RTA Compliance Guide, outlining everything a licensed operator needs to know before attempting to obtain an RTA.
  • RTA Compliance Documentation Package, which contains all the documentation you need to submit to the CO Division of Marijuana Enforcement.

“There’s no doubt that the new processes outlined in Colorado’s revised law, especially HACCP preparation, will help businesses create safer cannabis products and a more compliant workplace. Rootwurks developed our HACCP certification course to help businesses improve safety despite the budget and staffing limitations that often complicate safety training,” said Chase Eastman, CEO of Rootwurks.

CSQ and Rootwurks are scheduled to release in Q3, with more details and free resources to come soon.
