General-release tickets for the Cannabis Health Symposium in Frankfurt are now available to the public. This marks the end of the early-bird period, which concluded on 28 August.
This symposium serves as an evidence-led educational event for healthcare professionals. It also brings together industry representatives and patient advocates for discussion.
The gathering focuses on the evolving medical cannabis landscape in Germany. Experts will examine the impact of recent legal reforms on patient care.
The Frankfurt program will cover nine key themes announced so far. Sessions will address issues including telemedicine, reimbursement, and chronic pain. Mental health and patient rights are also central topics for the day.
Confirmed speakers include cannabis policy specialist Antonia Menzel and healthcare lawyer Sita Schubert. Professor Bernd Werse of Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences will also participate. Women’s health scientist Dr Shabnam Sarshar is another confirmed attendee.
The program is still being finalized by the organizers. The latest findings from EKOCAN will be a major discussion point. This is the government-mandated research program examining the impact of Germany’s cannabis reforms.
Access through Germany’s statutory health insurance system will form a key part of the program. The majority of medical cannabis prescriptions are still privately funded today. The session will examine barriers to reimbursement and how policy could improve access.
Antonia Menzel, chair of the Federal Association of Pharmaceutical Cannabinoid Companies, highlighted this disparity. She stated, “Germany has the largest medicinal cannabis market in Europe, but scale on its own tells us very little.” This comment underscores the gap between market size and actual patient access.
Menzel added that two years after the Cannabis Act came into force, most patients still fund their treatment privately. She described closing this gap as a shared task for clinicians, industry, and policy. The event will scrutinize whether online access has improved care or blurred medical distinctions.
