Statewide Dispensary Access Achieved
Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear (D) announced on Friday that medical marijuana dispensaries are now open across all 11 licensing regions of the state. The milestone followed the opening of Sunnyside Dispensary in Floyd County this week.
“With this week’s opening of Sunnyside Dispensary, we now have dispensaries open in all 11 licensing regions throughout the commonwealth,” Beshear said. “Every step of this process has put patients first, and I’m proud of the progress we’ve made.”
The announcement marks the completion of the regional rollout of the state’s medical cannabis dispensary system. With the Floyd County location now open, patients in every licensing region of the commonwealth have access to a dispensary within their region.
Program Figures
The state now has 26 medical cannabis dispensaries open and serving patients, according to the governor’s office. A total of 46 medical marijuana businesses are operating across the legal supply chain.
More than 28,000 patients have been approved to participate in the program, the governor’s office said. There are also more than 500 registered medical practitioners who can recommend cannabis.
The figures reflect participation across the program since dispensaries began opening in the state.

“Kentuckians suffering from PTSD, cancer, terminal illnesses, sickle cell anemia and more deserve a safe, non-addictive option for relief, and medical cannabis provides that,” Gov.
The governor’s announcement on Friday confirmed that the final licensing region has been served with the opening of the Floyd County dispensary.
