National Animal Group Urges Idaho To Lift CBD Pet Ban

According to a national group dedicated to animal and pet health, Idaho’s ban on CBD and hemp-derived products will only do more harm to animals as people are giving them CBD regardless of regulations.

There is an urgent need for CBD oil in dogs and cats with seizures and other problems, and CBD could be beneficial in those areas before making medical claims and ultimately gaining approval from the FDA. It’s a complex problem that oscillates between what you need to prove.

In Idaho, Least Permissive Cannabis Laws found anywhere in the US Idaho and some other states only It has resisted even allowing the sale of CBD. Last July, the Idaho Department of Agriculture (ISDA) announced The ban on CBD products and other hemp-derived products intended for pets and livestock is set to go into effect on November 1st.

“Idaho Code 25-2712 (1) states, ‘Illegal to manufacture or distribute.'[e] Adulterated or misrepresented commercial feeds. ” Therefore, it is consistent with FDA and AAFCO in accordance with state law. [Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO)], ISDA does not approve hemp or hemp-derived products for animal use. ”

But members of the National Animal Supplement Council (NASC) say CBD products require a certificate of analysis and must be scrutinized under regulatory programs, so Idaho’s ban puts animals at even greater risk. I think

So NASC called people to action on the council website petition at Change.org. As of this writing, approximately 3,000 people have signed the petition.

“The Idaho Department of Agriculture plans to stop selling pet products (animal health supplements) in dosage forms containing hemp and CBD beginning November 1, 2022,” the petition reads.

“This decision may harm animals whose owners no longer have access to the products their pets rely on for a variety of health and wellness reasons. It will also have a serious economic impact on businesses.

Removing CBD pet products from the market opens the door to a black market industry of unscrupulous vendors selling questionable products that may harm animals. We may also look at products for humans that are not toxic or marijuana products that contain high levels of THC. ”

NASC has two very specific missions. It is to “promote the health and well-being of companion animals and horses fed animal health supplements by their owners, and to protect and strengthen the animal health supplement industry.”

A viral video shows that CBD oil stops seizures in dogs in real time.

For example, British professional boxer Anthony Fowler posted a video What dogs looked like when they had seizures and how quickly CBD oil stopped them from shivering.another viral video CBD oil has shown to stop another dog’s seizures in less than a minute.

But despite these anecdotal reports coming out of woodwork, organizations in other countries say CBD products aren’t known enough to be safe for pets.

However, not everyone, including the FDA, is on board. The Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) and several other organizations joint open letter Earlier this year, it warned of health concerns about hemp and CBD in animal feed and pet food.
