Trump Claims Marijuana Harms Bill Maher’s Health In Truth Social Rant

Trump Targets Maher Over Marijuana Use

President Donald Trump says marijuana is “very bad” for Bill Maher’s health. He made the claim in his longest-ever post on Truth Social.

He also labeled Maher a “COMPLETE AND TOTAL LOSER.”

The post followed a second dinner between the two men at the White House this month. Trump says Maher “looked like hell” at the dinner.

“Bill was drunk and had alcohol in his hand as he walked through the White House,” Trump said on Sunday. Maher attended with sports analyst Stephen A. Smith and musician Kid Rock.

“Also, I wanted to tell Bill that he’s a major POTHEAD,” Trump said of Maher. “He’s got to stop, it’s very bad for his health.”

A Complicated History On Cannabis

Trump’s administration is taking steps to federally reschedule marijuana. The president has a long history of comments about cannabis.

He has mostly praised marijuana’s medical potential while often expressing concerns about broader use. In April, Trump said marijuana is the “best of all the alternatives” for people suffering from certain medical conditions.

Last year, Trump said marijuana can be a “substitute for addictive and potentially lethal opioid painkillers.” He added that he personally is “not going to be taking it.”

In 2020, Trump claimed that marijuana “does cause an IQ problem” in people who use it. In 2023, he suggested there may be a link between “genetically engineered” marijuana and mass shootings.

Earlier this month, he complained that cities run by Democrats smell like marijuana. “It smells of marijuana and other things worse than marijuana,” he said.

Maher’s Response And White House Context

Maher has joked about his own habits around the president. After his first dinner at the White House with Trump last year, Maher said he “wasn’t high” for it, calling it a “missed opportunity.”

The White House has also tied cannabis policy to public order. Last year, it said Washington, D.C.’s local “failed policies opened the door to disorder,” specifically citing “marijuana decriminalization.”

The president and the comedian have had a complicated relationship over the years. The dinners at the White House have drawn public attention to that dynamic.

Trump’s Truth Social rant stands as his most direct personal health claim about a specific marijuana user. It comes as his administration continues rescheduling work.

No response from Maher to the Sunday post was included in the report. The White House dinner and the post mark the latest chapter in the pair’s public exchanges.
